Jocelyne Cesari, CMES associate and director of the Islam in the West Program, has contributed an essay titled "Religion and the Political Participation of Muslims in the West" to the e-book Building a Shared Future: Religion, Politics and the Public Sphere. The e-book is part of a series of four books resulting from a March 2012 conference, Acknowledging a Shared Past to Build a Shared Future: Rethinking Muslim/non-Muslim Relations, which brought together seventy scholars, civil society leaders, journalists and other influencers for three days of discussion, training, and collaboration. The books and the conference are the joint efforts of the British Council’s Our Shared Future project and the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Centre of Islamic Studies at the University of Cambridge.

Building a Shared Future: Religion, Politics and the Public Sphere and the other three books in the series are available for free on the British Council's website and from iTunes.
