Teagan Cameron

PhD Candidate in History and Middle East Studies

Teagan Cameron is a doctoral student in the joint History and Middle Eastern Studies program. Her research interests focus on slavery and other forms of bondage in the Ottoman world, with a special focus on the evolving status of the janissary corps throughout the early modern period. Prior to beginning her studies at Harvard University, Teagan graduated with an MA in Near and Middle Eastern civilizations from the University of Toronto, where she completed a thesis that examined the ways in which Ottoman legal documents represented janissaries and other unfree individuals. She also received a BA (Honours) in history from the University of Alberta before pursuing graduate studies.
