Shireen graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with dual degrees in biochemistry and art history. Her honors thesis investigated the geographic and temporal movement of architectural striping, focusing on Italy and Islamic lands. She is currently interested in studying Islamic architecture and transcultural exchange across the Mediterranean.
