Randi Hendricks

AM Candidate in Regional Studies—Middle East

Randi Hendricks is an AM candidate in Regional Studies–Middle East at Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies. Her research focuses on identity, language, and political change in North Africa, with particular interests in contemporary North Africa. Her master’s thesis examines Amazigh identity and language revitalization in Morocco following the country’s 2011 constitutional reforms, drawing on ethnographic fieldwork conducted in Meknes and Rabat. She holds a BA in Arabic and a BSBA in economics and strategy from Washington University in St. Louis. Before coming to Harvard, Randi conducted research on Palestinian identity and nationalism in Jordan and worked as a Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellow, reporting from Jordan and the West Bank. She has also studied Arabic in Jordan, Oman, and Morocco and Persian in Armenia. Her broader academic interests include minority and Indigenous communities, cultural heritage, democratization, and the relationship between language and national belonging across the Middle East and North Africa.
