Mahmoud Al-Thabata

Mahmoud Al-Thabata is a researcher of international law, political economy, and Arab and Palestinian diplomatic history in the Center for Middle Eastern Studies’ concurrent AM program. His research examines Palestine and the broader Global South in the context of late-Cold War transformations in international law and global governance, with particular interest in regional neoliberal realignment and Arab political and economic movements. At Harvard College, he is pursuing a joint concentration in social studies and Near Eastern languages and civilizations, with a focus on postcolonial theory, intellectual history, and political economy in the Middle East. Al-Thabata's research overlaps with his interests in third world approaches to international law, corporate capital and human rights regimes, and the literary and cultural history of the Middle East. His research is also supported by the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship and the Harvard Committee on Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights.
