Amr Madi
Amr holds a PhD in medieval literary criticism and has been committed to teaching Arabic as a second language since 2009. He has taught Arabic language and culture at institutions such as the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and other American universities including Michigan State University and the University of Pittsburgh. In the Arab world, he has delivered lectures at institutions such as Alexandria University, Al-Akhawayn University, the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, and the UAE Ministry of Culture. Additionally, he served as the academic director for the Ningxia University Arabic study abroad program.
Amr has also worked with the LTI Foundation as a tester and rater of oral Arabic proficiency according to ACTFL guidelines.>
Amr spent seven years working with the Arabic language Flagship program in Egypt, Morocco, and the United States, where he developed numerous materials for the program. He has also developed materials for advanced language courses at Harvard that cover topics such as orientalism and language, political Islam, and Arabic literature.
In addition to his teaching, Amr actively contributes to the field of teaching Arabic as a second language by organizing meetings, seminars, symposiums, and workshops in Arabic, as well as through his publications. His research, both published and forthcoming, focuses on language proficiency and strategies for enhancement.
Beyond his academic endeavors, Amr is a writer with several poetry collections, and several prose works, some of which have been published while others are currently awaiting publication.
