Roger Owen receives grant from IQSS for book conference

CMES Professor Roger Owen, A.J. Meyer Professor of Middle Eastern History, has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Harvard University’s Institute for Quantitative Social Sciences to hold a conference on his forthcoming book, Presidents for Life: Monarcho/Presidential Republics and the Politics of Succession in the Arab World. The funding comes from the Eric M. Mindich Encounters with Authors fund, which provides authors with the opportunity to present a major work still in progress. The conference, which will be held March 4, 2011, is by invitation only.
