Professor Owen to be honored at World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies
The World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies, which will be held in Barcelona July 19th - 24th, 2010, will present the “WOCMES Award for Outstanding Contributions to Middle Eastern Studies 2010” to CMES professor Roger Owen on Tuesday July 20th. This year's award is being given to two experts, Prof. Owen and Prof. Josef Van Ess, Emeritus Professor of Islamic Studies and Semitic Languages at the University of Tübingen, Germany. The Congress, held every four years, "seeks to address, explore and exchange information on the state-of-the-art in Middle Eastern Studies in its broadest sense" according to its website.
