Outreach Center Water Exercise Used In Anti-Poverty Education

October 1, 2007

A popular water exercise developed by the Outreach Center is being used to highlight water issues in the Middle East region. Islamic Relief, a global anti-poverty NGO, included the activity in the latest issue of their Partnership magazine to highlight the importance of water sources and the problems of water scarcity.

The exercise consists of comparing sources of water in parts of the Middle East region, and the impact pollution and climate change have on them, with water sources in the United States. The exercise has been a popular tool among K–12 educators.

"We work to develop useful tools for teachers to use in their classrooms", says Paul Beran, Outreach Center Director, "We are glad that Islamic Relief found a use for the exercise in their anti-poverty and development work."
