Harvard's Bok Center gives teaching awards to CMES affiliates
Eleven CMES affiliates, including graduate students, lecturers, and preceptors, received teaching awards last Wednesday from Harvard's Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning. In an award ceremony on April 20, 2011, the teachers received the Harvard University Certificate of Distinction in Teaching (awarded to teaching fellows, teaching assistants, and course assistants) and the Harvard University Certificate of Teaching Excellence (awarded to lecturers and preceptors). This semester's CMES recipients, winning awards for classes taught in Fall 2010, are graduate students Sumeyra Aslihan Gurbuzel, Abigail Krasner, Leonard Wood, Sreemati Mitter, and Rubina Salikuddin, preceptors Osnat Aharoni, Mostafa Atamnia, Feryal Hijazi, Nevenka Korica Sullivan, and Himmet Taskomur, and lecturer Ahmed Ragab. Based on student-submitted Q evaluation, the awards are given to honor outstanding teachers.
