Teaching Arabic as a Second Language: Level One Workshop

Workshop Time: 13 – 17 January 2025, Daily from 9 am to 2 pm, Washington, DC time (EST)

Workshop Location: Via Zoom

Workshop Tuition: None

Workshop Language: Arabic

Workshop Audience: Priority for new, second-language Arabic instructors (5 years or fewer in the field), master's and doctoral students, or bachelor's degree students in their final year from outside the United States

Workshop Outcomes

At the end of the workshop, participants will be familiar with:

  • General principles of learning Arabic a second language
  • Vocabulary-learning strategies
  • Grammar-learning Strategies
  • Culture-learning Strategies
  • Reading Strategies
  • Writing Strategies
  • Listening Strategies
  • Speaking Strategies
  • Communicative Language Classroom Management Strategies

To join the workshop, please register by end of day, Wednesday, 1 January 2025 (Washington, DC time, EST), by submitting:

  • Short biography
  • A statement in Arabic (100-500 words) explaining the applicant's philosophy re: teaching Arabic as a second/other language and their perspectives on language proficiency.
