Lisa Suhair Majaj is a Palestinian-American writer living in Cyprus. She is the author of Geographies of Light (2009, Del Sol Press), of poems and essays in many journals and anthologies across the US, Europe, the Middle East and India, and of two children's books. She is also a scholar of Arab-American literature, and co-editor of three volumes of critical essays on Arab, Arab American, and other international women of color writers: Going Global: The Transnational Reception of Third World Women Writers, Garland/Routledge, 2000; Intersections: Gender, Nation and Community in Arab Women's Novels, Syracuse University Press, 2002; and Etel Adnan: Critical Essays on the Arab-American Writer and Artist, McFarland Publishing, 2002. Dr. Majaj has read at many international events, including London Southbank’s Poetry International, Palestine Writes, Cyprus International Literary Festival, and at events in Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Germany, Tunisia, India, and the U.S. In 2015 she read at the World Court of Women Against War in India. Her poems have been translated into a number of languages, including Arabic, Hebrew, Greek, Indonesian and Malayalam. Her poetry was included and displayed in the 2016 exhibition Aftermath: The Fallout of War—America and the Middle East (Harn Museum of Art, University of Florida). Her poetry has also been included in a number of textbooks and has been taught at high schools and colleges in the US, Jordan, Palestine and elsewhere.
