This workshop for Harvard undergraduates offers students the opportunity to “translate” research, scholarship, and ideas into graphic representations such as comics, collage, and sequential art. Students will be invited to learn and draw inspiration from contemporary modes of Islamicate art which play with the boundaries between word and image, including graphic novels and “calligraffiti.” No artistic experience is necessary.
The workshop sessions will be led by staff members from the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Islamic Studies Program and the Center for Middle Eastern Studies Outreach Center. Students may drop in and out throughout the workshop.
