Current Developments in Tunisia

Professor Roger Owen will lead Mr. Lofti Saibi in a discussion on the current developments in Tunisia.

Lotfi Saibi, born in Jelma, Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia in 1960, University lecturer and a business owner, member of the opposition party Al Joumhouri, and current resident of Tunis after spending 30 years in the United States. Lofti holds a BS in Applied Mathematics from University of Massachusetts, Boston, and a Masters in Management Operations from Harvard University.

Mr. Saibi is President and founder of the Leadership House which focuses on leadership development, political marketing, and communications in Tunisia and Libya. He was was a founding member of the party Afek Tounes in April 2011, which participated in the October 23, 2011 elections and placed 4 deputies in the National Constitutional Assembly. Mr. Saibi was the campaign director for this very young party.

After the 10/23/2011 elections in which Nahdha was the relative majority winner, Afek Tounes merged with PDP (Parti democrate progressiste) to create in April 09, 2012 Al Hizb Aljoumhouri, or the Republican Party. Mr. Saibi is a member of the Central Committee of Al Joumhouri.
