### Program Overview

Immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Tunisia through Harvard's Center for Middle Eastern Studies' winter term study program. This 2.5-week experience, based in Tunis, offers an opportunity to explore Tunisian landscapes and urbanism. Each student will be required to keep a notebook throughout the program and is expected to actively participate in all programmed activities.

### What You’ll Experience

- **Hands-on Field Research:** Engage in practical exercises like notetaking and sketching, enhancing your observational skills.
- **Excursions:** Visit Tunisia's archaeological sites, extensive archives, and diverse cities and landscapes.
- **Multidisciplinary Learning:** Perfect for graduate students from all Harvard schools and undergraduates with research interests in North African or Middle Eastern studies (priority given to juniors and seniors).

### Program Benefits

- **Field Notes:** Develop meticulous field note practices suited to your academic discipline, with each student maintaining a detailed notebook throughout the program.
- **Comprehensive Coverage:** All major costs, including round-trip travel from Boston to Tunis, lodging, meals, and local transportation, are fully covered by CMES.

### Application Essentials

- **Statement of Purpose:** A one-page document outlining your reasons for applying.
- **Academic Transcript:** An unofficial grade report from my.harvard is acceptable.
- **Letter of Recommendation:** One letter from a Harvard faculty member, preferably within Middle Eastern Studies.
