Ryan Herring

AM Candidate in Regional Studies—Middle East
Ryan is a first year master’s student at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies. He graduated from The United States Military Academy at West Point in 2010 where he studied Arabic, and was commissioned as an officer in the Army. Ryan's most recent assignments have focused on north and west Africa where he as worked extensively with the US State Department and underrepresented populations to combat the threat of violent extremism. He is currently focused on the language, culture, and history of the Persianate world in preparation for his upcoming assignment as an instructor at West Point.
