Joseph Ataman

A Londoner at heart, Joseph graduated in 2014 with a first class degree in geography from the University of Cambridge. After a few months on the news desk of a local paper covering two of London's poorest boroughs, he moved to Beirut. As a freelance journalist, Joseph has covered social issues around marginalised groups in Lebanon and the fallout from the Syrian civil war, as well as reporting from Iraq on the war against ISIS. Eager to pursue a career as a foreign correspondent, while a Fulbright postgraduate scholar at Harvard University Joseph intends to investigate the complex role that journalism is playing in the Levant's ongoing political upheaval. A choral scholar at university with the world famous choir of St John's College, Cambridge, during his two years at Harvard he looks forward to exploring the very best of the American choral world.
