John (Jack) Murphy is a first year AM student in Middle East Studies. He was born in the US and grew up in Brussels, Dubai, and London. He graduated from Oxford University with a first-class honours degree in Arabic with Hebrew, where he wrote a dissertation comparing Arabic and Hebrew poetry pre- and post-1948. His research interests include Israel-Palestine, regional negotiations, Middle Eastern international relations, and analysing why diplomatic efforts do and don't succeed.
