DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>The Center for Middle Eastern Studies</strong> will mark the centenary of Turkey’s entry into the First World War in the Middle East by organizing a small, one-day, round-table to include the military campaigns and associated events in Anatolia and the Arab Provinces of the Ottoman Empire, as well as Egypt: <em>The Middle East at War – 1914-1922: A Round Table</em>, organized by Harvard Department of History Professors Roger Owen and Cemal Kafadar.<!--break--><br><br>This roundtable will concentrate on:<br>-The military: battles and campaigns (at sea, on land, in the air), intelligence collection, conditions of service, treatment of the injured, conduct towards Prisoners of War;<br>-The home front in Egypt and the Ottoman Empire: impact, civilian morale, rationing, propaganda, attitude to non-combatants; and,<br>-Literary reflections on the war via poems, short stories, collections of letters.</p><p>Participants include:<br><strong>M.
