DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Harvard Social Anthropology Program Seminar Series</strong> and the <strong>Center for Middle Eastern Studies </strong>present</p><p><strong>Niloofar Haeri<br></strong>Professor and Chair, Department of Anthropology, Johns Hopkins University<!--break--></p><p>Professor Haeri is turning her work back to sincerity.  For her, it involves thinking more about interiority, its historicization, how one can be more systematic about studying it, etc. and also to the question of what is exactly the move being made in reading “modern subjectivity” off of semiotic ideology (as in the case of Webb Keane’s work).</p><p>Professor Haeri's research interests include Islam, gender and linguistics/semiotics.
