Silverstein is Associate Professor of Anthropology at Reed College. A 2008 Carnegie scholar, he is author of <em>Algeria in France:Transpolitics, Race, and Nation</em> (Indiana, 2004) and co-editor of <em>Bourdieu in Algeria: Colonial Politics, Ethnographic Practices, Theoretical Developments</em> (Nebraska, 2009).
