DESCRIPTION:<p>	<strong>The Center for Middle Eastern Studies</strong> presents a screening of</p><p>	<strong><em>Dracula in Istanbul/Drakula İstanbul'da</em> (1953</strong><drupal-media data-entity-type="media" data-entity-uuid="4bb55a6a-a2fd-45ef-94c8-c6cee4ded98c" data-align="right" alt="Dracula in Istanbul" data-view-mode="hwp_small"></drupal-media><strong>)</strong><br>Director: Mehmet Muhtar</p><p>	With a brief introduction by Prof <strong>Cemal Kafadar</strong>.<!--break--></p><p>	A Turkish version of Bram Stoker's original novel <em>Dracula</em>. The screenplay was based on a 1928 novel by Ali Riza Seyfi called <em>Kazıklı Voyvoda</em> ("Impaler Voivode"), and is more or less a translation of Stoker's novel, but there is no Renfield character and Güzin, the "Mina" character, is a showgirl given to performing in revealing outfits. This is the fourth dracula movie ever and the first film in which the count is represented with fanged teeth. Drakula/Dracula is played by Atif Kaptan.
