Director, El Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales (CSIC), Madrid; Visiting Scholar, Center for Middle Eastern Studies Dr. Fierro will discuss her current research on a significant Andalusian judicial figure from the 11th century. Dr. Fierro's research focuses on the political, religious, and intellectual history of al-Andalus and the Islamic Weest (eighth-fifteenth centuries), on Islamic law, and on violence and its representation in Medieval Arabic sources.
