Ahmed Khalid Towfik  
Egyptian novelist, author &amp; poet Former professor of medicine at Tanta University, Ahmed Khalid Towfik is the first Arab writer to explore the horror/science fiction genre and the first Arab writer to explore the medical thriller genre. His series *Fantasia* was a first of its kind; a plot that presents famous literary works to the youth, through an interactive presentation. *Fantasia* presented young Arab reader to a wide spectrum of topics, from Arthur Conan Doyle and Sikhism, to Dostoevsky and the Cosa Nostra. He is known to have a unique approach to writing, which seems to appeal to both Egyptian and Arab youth, making him a favorite among contemporary authors in the Middle East. Towfik was born in 1962 in the city of Tanta, Egypt. In 1995, he graduate from Tanta University's medical school, and later received a PhD in 1997.
