We believe that the method and medium of graphic novels can be an innovative part of the research and teaching experience at Harvard. Combining words and images, graphic memoirs, travelogues, and journalism such as Marjane Satrapi’s “Persepolis,” Guibert, Lefevre, and Lemercier’s “The Photographer,” Joe Sacco’s “Palestine,” and Sarah Gliden’s “How to Understand Israel in 60 Days or Less” have inspired readers to understand and engage with complex material and experience in new and accessible ways.
